Prezi is a unique and entertaining alternative to PowerPoint and slideshow presentations. It utilizes a "zoom in, zoom out, and tilt" visual concept to add dynamic and punch to any presentation - hierarchy is created through the incorporation of font and graphic sizes. It's Twitter bio defines it as "a zooming story telling and presentation tool that helps you create outstanding visuals for your thoughts" (Prezi (prezi)).
Unlike cues or slides, Prezi utilizes a “canvas” concept where you zoom in on various aspects of your presentation. It’s quite unique. The free account from Prezi is a little limited, but still offers you a great deal of flexibility as well as allows you to add pizazz to your presentations. While the free account allows only online presentation development, you still get offline presentation capabilities. This means you can download your custom presentation and present it without a web connection.
I have found this to be an amazing tool for reinventing the linear PowerPoint lecture as it relates details and concepts to main ideas and the infamous "so what?" big picture.
Micheal, great link! My students are always coming up with invalid info when doing research. I will be sure to have them bookmark this site on Monday. Thanks for sharing!
