Teachers Teaching Teachers

ABOUT ME

My name is Michael Wanmer; I am an eighth grade social studies teacher at Palos Verdes Intermediate School at Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District in the greater Palos Verdes Peninsula, California.  My classroom overlooks the Pacific Ocean and is full of dedicated students and aspiring professionals.  I have been teaching for the past four years and plan to teach for the next thirty.

In my spare time during the school year I coach basketball and volleyball and during the summer months I am a beach lifeguard.  I am engaged and have recently adopted a lhasa apso my fiance found and convinced me needed a loving home.

BLOG GOALS
One goal I have is to take my classroom global. This year I plan to keep contact with my teaching friends from China and have open chats at least once a month. I really want my students to think in global not simply American terms.

My main objective with this blog is to create a space for teachers, administrators, and staff to collaborate about effective implementation of educational technology in our classrooms: teachers teaching teachers.  We have so much we can share and learn from each other – staying fresh and current is an obstacle many teachers do not overcome, hopefully this blog will provide effortless opportunities to do such.

I would also like to review many of the technology modalities / resources I come across within this blog space.  There is a surplus of "new" tech savy approaches to teaching, but they don't all work for everyone or every student; I look to this blog to encourage me to experiment and adapt these technologies and share them with my colleagues and peers.
